FAQ

I am registered as a dietitian in Alberta.  Because of how registration works in Canada, this means that, at this time, I am only able to provide nutrition counselling to residents of Alberta.  Currently appointments are only available online or over the phone.

I hope to create an environment where you feel safe sharing your food story with me.  Nutrition is a science , but it is also highly individualized; this means that there will be some trial and error as we find out what works for you and your body.  There may be challenging or emotional moments during or after appointments as food affects every aspect of our lives.  I use approaches including motivational interviewing, intuitive eating, and mindful eating in my nutrition counselling.

My thoughts and values:

  • There are no good or bad foods.  All foods can have a role in our lives and can be nourishing.
  • You are the expert in your journey, your experiences, and your health.
  • We all deserve to be treated with compassion and respect.  Everybody deserves to be able to make their own choices about food and how they nourish their body and deserves to have those choices respected.
  • Health cannot be assumed based on size.
  • We can push back against diet culture and reject this messaging in our lives.
  • We are all constantly learning.
  • We can heal our relationship with food.  Regardless of where our journeys have taken us, we all can have a relationship with food that is stress-free and brings joy.

Although, many health benefits cover the services of registered dietitian, check with your benefits provider to see if they will cover the cost of seeing a dietitian and the specifics of this coverage.  Please note that many plans only cover part of the cost.

I do not currently offer direct billing, but I hope to in the future.  I will provide you with a receipt that you can submit to your health insurance provider.

Appointments that are not cancelled with at least 24 hours notice will be billed at 50% of the appointment cost.

Unfortunately, I do not offer refunds for appointments that have been completed.  If you have concerns about how your appointment went, please be in touch, as I want you to feel that you are getting the support that you need through your appointments.
